Putin ally warns Trump Greenland plan could spark 'end of world' in nuclear Armageddon
Donald Trump's true agenda behind seizing Greenland is to deploy intercontinental ballistic missiles beneath the ice - a move that could trigger "the beginning of the end of the world", a Putin ally has warned.
The "eccentric" American president is plotting to place his nuclear arsenal on the planet's biggest island to gain atomic dominance over Russia and China, claims Dmitry Rogozin.
The West-loathing Rogozin serves as a Putin-supporting senator representing parts of occupied Ukraine, previously held roles as deputy prime minister and chief of Russia's Space Agency, and formerly acted as the Kremlin's envoy at NATO's Brussels headquarters.
A warfare enthusiast, he currently operates a military drone division that targets Ukrainian forces on the battlefield. The Putin loyalist is now alleging that Trump's Greenland strategy will spark global catastrophe.
He claims the territorial seizure is connected to America's plans for a 'Golden Dome' missile shield programme "in which space, AI, and a layered architecture merge into a single system,".
"Orbital sensors, ground interceptors, decision-making algorithms - all this requires advantageous geography.
"Greenland, with its Arctic position, proximity to Russia, and convenience for northern ICBM trajectories, fits perfectly into this architecture."
Trump's attempt to seize Greenland is not a random act, but rather a strategic move to fulfil the Pentagon's desire to stop negotiating with European allies and take control of Greenland by force, transforming it into a base for deploying nuclear attack and missile defence interception systems against Russian ICBMs..
This is the dismantling of the entire system of strategic stability in the world that has prevented the use of nuclear weapons since 1945."
Rogozin, who is deeply involved in the development of Russia's new Sarmat, or Satan-2, a colossal 208-ton intercontinental nuclear missile capable of speeds up to 15,880mph, warned that this could push the world to the edge of disaster.
"In real life, this can only be tested once, but it is not certain that anyone will be left to prepare reports afterwards," he said.
"This is the problem: the US, led by an eccentric, may convince themselves that, finally, thanks to the annexation of Greenland and the deployment there of components of the command and control system for strategic offensive weapons, they have achieved nuclear superiority over Russia and China.
"This will be the beginning of the end of the world."
Rogozin cautioned: "In the 1960s, the Pentagon already tried to turn Greenland into an under-ice missile foothold - the Iceworm project envisaged placing hundreds of ICBMs in a network of tunnels under the glacier.
"The distances to key cities in the European part of the USSR made the island an ideal tool for nuclear pressure: flight time - just minutes.
"The project then failed not for political but geological reasons - the ice turned out to be alive, mobile, and dangerous for the infrastructure of ice missile silos.
"But technology has advanced far."
He warned that a potential nuclear Third World War would be fought in the Arctic region.
"The Arctic is the fastest route for delivering nuclear warheads by missiles from the US to Russia and from Russia to the US.
"Moreover, not only intercontinental ballistic missiles but primarily cruise missiles from multipurpose nuclear submarines.
"Arctic ice is mobile, and its thickness is not an obstacle for the surfacing of nuclear submarines.
"In the event of a thermonuclear conflict, the exchange of strikes will occur precisely over the Arctic."
Rogozin alleged: "In Washington, the only acceptable scenario for a nuclear conflict with Russia is considered the destruction of our missiles in silos and on mobile launchers by a combined and unexpected strike using drones and cruise missiles, followed by the interception of remaining nuclear warheads of missiles that survived the disarming attack and were used in a retaliatory strike.
