Man Utd Fans Outraged by Liverpool Fan Sam Quek’s Soccer Aid Entrance
Manchester United supporters were left outraged by an incident involving Sam Quek during Soccer Aid at Old Trafford on Sunday evening. Quek, a former Team GB hockey player and Olympic gold medallist, came on as a substitute for Mo Farah in the 62nd minute. Despite her efforts, the England team couldn’t hold on to their lead, eventually losing 5-4 to the World XI, who mounted a dramatic comeback from 3-0 and then 4-2 down.
Carlos Tevez scored four goals for the World XI, while rapper Big Zuu netted the winner in front of a sold-out crowd. The match raised £15 million for UNICEF’s work supporting children around the world and, as usual, maintained a friendly and light-hearted spirit, far removed from the intense Premier League clashes typically seen in M6.
However, one moment sparked controversy among Red Devils' fans. Quek, a well-known and vocal Liverpool supporter, made her allegiance clear during her appearance - something that didn’t sit well with the Theatre of Dreams' regulars.

She came on to the sound of 'You'll Never Walk Alone' playing around Old Trafford
Upon her introduction, Quek - now better known as a television presenter - ran onto the pitch to the sound of Liverpool’s iconic anthem, 'You’ll Never Walk Alone', echoing around Old Trafford. The choice of song didn’t go down well with the Man United faithful, and she was met with a chorus of boos.
In response, Quek cheekily held up six fingers, a nod to the Reds' six Champions League titles. Watch the moment below:
While much of the booing in the stadium seemed to be in good fun, some Man United fans online weren’t as forgiving. Many felt the decision to play You’ll Never Walk Alone at Old Trafford - even during a charity event - crossed a line. “Playing You’ll Never Walk Alone at Old Trafford, charity or not… don’t do that again please,” one user posted on X, tagging the club’s official account.
Elsewhere, a second X user added: "Old Trafford allowing YNWA to be played is an absolute utter disgrace," while a third continued: "That is diabolical." A fourth then concluded:
"Someone needs to get the sack after playing 'You will never walk alone' at Old Trafford."
Quek almost scored shortly after coming off the bench, so the reaction to that would certainly have been interesting. In the end, however, England's goalscorers were Wayne Rooney, Toni Duggan, and Jermain Defoe, who scored twice.
